Monday June 13th: Our 47th Wedding Anniversary, a visit to Wallington

Sunny for a change first thing, so we packed a flask and took the inland and quieter route through Wooler and Rothbury to arrive at Wallington just after it opened, this is a view of the front entrance
Here is the other side of that impressive gateway.
They can't have been pushed for time when this clock was built as it only has an hour hand!
below the clock were these lovely flowers
And these unusual plants, though exactly what they are I don't know!
This is the rear view of the house,
We walked around the lawn on it's left then crossed the road and into the wood leading slightly downhill for 500 yards to the walled garden, the wood had lots of Rhododendrons
And you pass alongside a large lily pond, but it's too early in the summer for them to be in bloom
Here we are in the Walled Garden, looking down at the little pool that feeds a stream running down through the garden to a distant river.
And this view is looking up at our previous viewpoint
A short walk along the upper left hand terrace brings you to this wonderful greenhouse.
with it's resident cat who obviously lives a life of Riley in these warm and pleasant surroundings!
The flowers in here are huge! and a real treat, here are a few
I couldn't resist this shot as we left the garden
We had a very nice lunch in the Restaurant before leaving and taking this one of the front of the house and the Stone Dragon heads as we headed south to Hadrians Wall
We drove along the road following the wall for some miles and we did get a shot or two
Then turned north along minor roads through splendid scenery like this
Before rejoining main roads at Jedburgh, through Kelso and Coldstream back to camp, we had really enjoyed our Anniversary Day out!
