Monday 23rd August 2010 Grange over Sands

What weather! it didn't stop raining all day, but we decided to go out anyway and drove down to Windermere first to shop in the Booths supermarket there and pick up some sandwiches and a sticky bun for lunch. There were a few people out and about, some taking a lake cruise (at Least there is some cover on that boat!)
We travelled down the side of Lake Windermere but the weather didn't encourage stopping to take in the view and we eventually ended up at Grange over Sands where we ate lunch and I had a short walk in the gardens there and watched people feeding the ducks
There were many different water fowl on this little lake like these ornamental geese
Here is a close up of one, their feathers look "Wooly" don't they/
And there were some unusually coloured ducks, like this little fella
Flowers are lovely in this area and there were some superb examples in this little garden area
How about these beauties? the flowers are about two inches across, and have a pleasant smell too
And there were some very large Fuchsias , no doubt the influence of the Gulf stream explains why the flowers grow so well around here
We came back along the western shore of Coniston, despite the rain people were still walking along the shoreline.
Despite the appalling weather we still had a good day out and enjoyed ourselves, let's hope it's a bit drier tomorrow!
