Sunday 18th September 2011: first day back in the Lakes

We left our pitch at Low Moor at 8:35 AM and had an easy ride through, stopping for lunch near Kendal at 11:30 as we needed to kill time so as not to arrive on site before 12 PM.
We had set off in sunshine, but ran into light rain once we reached the Lake District, though we did at least get a dry set up, then after a rest drove into Keswick to do some shopping.
The fields below Lodore Force were flooded right across to Chinese Bridge and from what we could gather there had been a lot of rain in the previous few days.
After a light tea a sunny spell tempted us to go out for a short evening run, starting by ascending Honister Pass
The roads were blissfully empty and it was possible to stop and take a photo of the old tree that won't give up!
And this view further along the lake
We turned back at Buttermere Village and returned via Newlands pass, where we could see the sunlit fells above Keswick.
A pleasant end to a great first day
