Tuesday August 16th 2011:Cemlyn, Church Bay and Parys Mountain

Cloud and rain early on decided us to remain on the island and have a local day, our first run being to Cemlyn Bay, a strange lagoon of shingles
there are the remains of an old farmstead here and that's aboput all, but is is a great spot for wild birds
We popped into Valley for lunch then explored some of the minor roads, there were great views over towards Holyhead and the ferries
This is porth Twyn
And this one is called Church Bay, not because there is a church close to the sea, but because from the sea you can see a distant church spire which means you are on a safe course for Holyhead.
The weather had improved quite a bit, so after tea we went for a stroll up Parys Mountain to view the "Great Pit" the old open cast Copper mine.
This board tells the story
And this panorama shows how the pit is today
