Saturday 17th April 2010, A visit to Grange over Sands, and Keith Chambers came to visit.

We set off early, and with the main street through Keswick being closed, headed north up our side of the Lake shore, stopping briefly so I could take this shot of my favourite house!
We had to take the by-pass and come back into the far side of Keswick to head down to Grasmere to buy some of the famous gingerbread.
Once this critical task was accomplished we shopped at the Booths Supermarket in Windermere then ran into heavy two way weekend traffic.
We then headed down the eastern side of windermere and dropped in to visit the National Trust property "Lakeside Park" The flowers and views down onto the lake were very nice,
and so were the boats at anchor,

Particularly this historic pleasure boat doing trips round the lake
but we were disappointed to find that the tea room where we were hoping for a light lunch was closed due to flooding damage, so we pressed on to Grange Over Sands and had lunch in a cafe by the ornamental gardens. These were very attractive, well shaped and planted

and there were some very exotic waterfowl too!
After we got back to the caravan Keith Chambers arrived, and after a Cuppa, piece of Grasmere Gingerbread, and a chat, we walked down to the lakeside and it was picture taking time again

The clouds don't look normal, there are so firm shapes in them, it makes you wonder if the reason they look sort of smudged is volcanic ash from that volcanic eruption in Iceland that has grounded all aircraft across the UK?
